DATE: Monday 28 August, 1995
PLACE: Tully Cross, Renvyle Peninsular
WEATHER: Overcast, breezy
REMARKS: We start late again by wandering our way through
Letterfrack, Moyard, and on to Clifden, an early King haunt.
Clifden is a small, pretty town crawling with tourists. One
wonders what the locals do outside of the 'season'.
From there we go onto Dan O'Hara's. This is a re-creation
of a pre-1840's farm. Up a hillside a thatched, 2-room cottage
has been re-furbished. The guide speaks with a German accent!
Although not entirely convincing (too much concrete in the
stone walls), the effort is worthwhile and interesting. Below
is a re-creation of a crannog, which is more realistic: small,
low built, and smoky.
Michael and Cushla track down Kirsten and Adrian, and bring
them from Galway.
