DATE: Sunday 13 August, 1995
PLACE: Derculich Farm, Strathtay, Perthshire
WEATHER: Cooler
REMARKS: Cherry Tree cottage is delightful: modernised interior,
2-storied with ample room. Kitchen well equipped, as is the
laundry (we can catch up on washing and ironing!) Situated
in a lovely river valley with slopes both wooded and pastured;
black-faced sheep on one side, and hay bales on the other.
The farm is a going concern, and we seem to be left alone.
The river has 'Private fishing' signs! The big-house of the
postcard is just visible through the trees below us.
Today is a 'rest-day' after the rigours of the previous
week. We sleep late; the kids watch TV, and play with animation
and pure enjoyment.
We drive to Aberfeldy to shop, raid the Information Centre;
then onto a Childhood Heritage Museum.
Private, and run by amateurs, it is nonetheless worth the
visit, and intrigues the kids with re-creations of 1930s shops,
Home Front (W. W.II) displays, and equipment from its days
as a parish poorhouse.
An early night is called for as Desiree and I plan the rest
of the week.
